The 2018 Sundance Summer Theatre show, Oklahoma!, is nearing the end of its run, so get a move on if you’d like to see it! A pre-show BBQ begins at 6 p.m., then settle in for a delightful musical in the beautiful outdoor venue. Sundance Summer Theatre returned to the Sundance Resort in 2008. Its partnership with Utah Valley University “supports the Sundance vision of unspoiled and authentic experiences where art, nature, and commerce unite.”

Park City Sunrise Rotary Tour de Sunrise

It’s the 4th Annual Park City Sunrise Rotary Tour de Sunrise. Walk, Run, Ride! The whole fam can join this event, which unfolds for eight miles along the beautiful Echo Reservoir. The easy ride has themed, refreshment stations along the way, and is just $10 per person or $25 for a group (up to five people). Money raised goes to the Park City Sunrise Rotary Club, which assists community organizations with funding through grants each year.

Don Felder for St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights
NEW LOCATION! → City Park @ 6 PM
Rock out with the legendary rock musician, songwriter and former member of The Eagles – Don Felder! This is his first time performing for the Park City Institute’s St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights concert series, and it is sure to be a delightful evening at City Park. This Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer played with The Eagles for 27 years – and co-wrote a little song you may or may not have heard, “Hotel California,” along with many, many others. You won’t want to miss this one, so zip on over to PCI’s website and buy your tickets.

Canyons Village Summer Concert Series runs just a few more weeks – until September 1st – at the Canyons Village Stage. This week, catch Aaron Lee Tasian, along with family-friendly activities. Tasian is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. His songs, a distinct “indie folk grit” style, are insightful and often humorous – this is one up-and-comer you won’t want to miss!

The Utah Symphony and singer Randy Jackson capture Pink Floyd’s harmonies and iconic sounds of one of the biggest rock bands of all time. The first half of the concert will feature a full orchestral performance of the album The Dark Side of the Moon, with popular hits including “Comfortably Numb,” “Another Brick in the Wall (Part II),” and “Hey You” on the second half.

Edgar Winter, a musician with hits like “Frankenstein,” and “Free Ride” gets rave reviews for his high energy multi-instrumental live shows. The Egyptian Theatre calls Winter a musician at the top of his game.

International Ocean Film Tour Vol. 5

The most inspiring stories from the seven seas and the best watersports action of the year! The Park City Film Series, along with a few partners, is hosting their third annual drive-in movie experience in Lot K in Prospector Square (1920 Prospector Ave). Lot K opens at 7 p.m., with live music from Ryan Walsh and One-Wheel demos on site, and there will be giveaways from the sponsors! More info (there are height restrictions) can be found here.
Tickets are $15; this classic summer evening experience is presented by Park City Standup Paddle Boarding & Basin Recreation & Prospector Square Property Owners Association. Ticket proceeds benefit Basin Recreation’s Youth Scholarship program.

Guided Historical Hike

Silver Lake Village, Deer Valley
Enjoy the gorgeous landscape of Deer Valley Resort with a guided historical hike on Sunday morning. The three-to-four hour hike will cover about six miles of moderately strenuous terrain – all while you learn about the area’s mining history. Participants should meet at the base of the Sterling Express chairlift (mid-mountain at Silver Lake Lodge). Reservations are required, along with a $10 fee. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and proper sun protection (and bring along plenty of water and snacks!). To reserve your spot, you’re asked to call 435-645-6648.

Hops Hunters Hike
9:30 AM @ Ontario Mine Tunnel Parking Lot
Sign us up for this one! The Summit Land Conservancy has teamed up with Wasatch Brewery to hunt for local hops in the Park City area. You’re invited to join the Hops Hunters in a hike along hillsides protected by the Conservancy. The hike begins at 9:30 a.m. and will last about two hours, with discussions about local edible and invasive species as the group searches for wild-growing hop-binds. And listen to this – the goal is to actually *harvest* the hops with the hikers’ help! Once that happens, this fall, a limited edition open space beer will be brewed and sold through Wasatch Brewery, with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to the Land Conservancy. If you ask up, that all ties up pretty nicely. Bottoms up!

Contender Bicycles is hosting a complimentary women’s repair clinic and pop-up shop with Park City’s own Erica Tingey of Women in the Mountains, and Debbie Drain of The Chicks Company. Join us Monday, August 13th, and Monday, August 27th at 6 pm, at 1352 White Pine Canyon Road (just next to St. Mary’s).
On Monday, August 13th, Erica and Contender mechanics will focus on fixing flats and emergency tire repair on the road and mountain bike. An additional clinic will be held on Monday, August 27, with the focus on braking and shifting adjustment.

The Summit County Community Market kicks off its second year with fresh, local produce. And on the last Thursday of each month, there’s a free BBQ and adult beverages, provided by local vendors, at the end of the ride.

There are just two shows left for the Grand Valley Bank Community Concert Series! These complimentary concerts are truly the midweek treat for residents and visitors alike. The concerts are programmed by Mountain Town Music and take place at the Deer Valley outdoor amphitheater. Grab your cooler full of snacks and beverages, your camp chairs and blankets, and trek up to the lawn to enjoy terrific music.
This week – independent R&B / soul singer Yolanda Arrey performs. She cites Whitney Houston, Billie Holiday, and the Temptations as her inspirations – but her style sets her apart from these legends.
The last concert in this summer’s series happens next Wednesday, August 22, with Mountain Town Music’s annual Live PC Give PC Community Jam Session. The show brings local musicians together to celebrate the end of summer with a super jam which is inspired by The Band’s The Last Waltz.
Summit Bike Club & Little Bellas
Tour of Utah is full speed ahead, and we’ve got biking on the brain. The race, which is one of the top professional cycling events in North America, ends Sunday afternoon on Historic Main Street. A large part of the Tour of Utah’s goal is to communicate “how individual attention to personal health and physical activity at every age will lead to a stronger, healthier society.”
In light of that, we thought we’d start cheering early – for the nonprofits dedicated to supporting biking efforts for very similar reasons right here in Park City. So, without hitting the brakes, allow us to introduce you to Little Bellas and Summit Bike Club.
Summit Bike Club
Skills, safety, and sportsmanship of cycling
The Summit Bike Club works to keep kids active and outdoors on two wheels. The group also works to educate athletes on skills, safety, and sportsmanship. They have a number of programs created with the goal to develop lifelong cyclists – and to grow the sport of mountain biking.
Their core values include integrity, respect, perseverance, leadership, and accountability, and through these, they cultivate and develop elite athletes – but also lifelong casual athletes. It was founded in 2012, with 12 athletes, with funding support from the Park City Community Foundation. It has grown steadily in the years since, with additional programs and the formation of an elite team.
The group has been awarded USA Cycling’s Mountain Bike Club of the Year award each year since 2015! Now, the group’s programming can be found not only in Park City, but in Davis and Logan, Utah, and in Colorado, Idaho, and Texas, too.
Little Bellas
Mentoring on Mountain Bikes
The National Children’s Bureau reports that boys cycle nearly 6 times as much as girls. That translates to 138 miles/year for boys and just 24 miles/year for girls. Little Bellas is an organization (based in Vermont, with a Park City chapter) which may help even the scales. It’s a mountain bike organization with the goal to help young women realize their potential through cycling. In the last ten years – nearly 3,000 girls have participated in the program – many of whom have continued on through the program to build active adult female rider groups.
The nonprofit was formed in 2007, with a focus on girls ages 7 through 16 – the ages where self-esteem can be most at risk for girls. Support and respect were keystone values, and an all-woman mentor community created a safe space for participation. The program encompasses skills, yes, but skills on *and* off the bike. It also tackles the topic of nutrition – and using food as a source of fuel.

The 49th Annual Kimball Arts Festival is in full swing. The three-day extravaganza is among the top-ranked art festivals in the entire country – and packs THOUSANDS of visitors onto Historic Main Street in Park City.
225 artists are featured (nearly 1000 applied!), and it serves as Kimball Art Center’s largest fundraiser. Money raised from the Arts Fest goes toward things like art education and curriculum in our public schools, after-school arts programs, scholarships for low-income children to participate in art classes and camps, and complimentary access for our community to experience gallery exhibitions. The festival is open Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Copper Moose Farm Stand is tucked away on Old Ranch Road and sells organic produce and farm-grown flowers. During the summer months, you can find arugula, asparagus, beets, beet greens, broccoli, leeks, micro greens, onions, stir fry greens and more. Jann Karam
A stand-up comedian, actor, writer and director, Jann has made numerous appearances on both NBC’s Tonight Show – and on David Letterman’s Late Show. She played one of Jerry’s girlfriends on Seinfeld, and in addition to series regular roles—she was cast as an ensemble player in the last incarnation of The Carol Burnett show–she’s guest-starred on countless T.V. sitcoms and recently played the leading role in “Expiry” a festival short film shot in New Mexico. Jann wrote, directed and starred in a festival award-winning short film, she’s performed a critically acclaimed theatrical solo show, and, when she has some free time, she does stand up. Jann regularly performs stand-up on tour with Dana Carvey.
James P. Connolly
A stand-up comedian and radio/TV host, James attended Harvard University on a Marine Corps ROTC Scholarship, and eventually made his way to Hollywood, where he began to perform at the World Famous Comedy Store, the World Famous Improv, the Legendary Ice House Comedy Club and other spots, and shortly thereafter started appearing on television, commercials, and in small films. Music in the Meadow | July 2018
The first-ever Music in the Meadow was an evening filled with lovely music, delicious food, and a bull moose sighting! The event was held in the Meadow Lakes area of The Colony as a way to introduce the community to the magic of the upper meadow.
About 150 guests were ferried by golf cart to Homesite 270 (one of our favorites in the Meadow Lakes) and enjoyed music from Rogers & Buffington, food by Ellie’s, wine by Old Town Cellars, and homemade Ice Cream by Wasatch Creamery Ice Cream Co. Photos were captured by Eclectic Brew Productions.
Meadow Lakes Homesites
The Meadow Lakes Homesites are the initial release of our final chapter here at The Colony – Phase 5. The 12 spectacular homesites skirt the upper meadow of The Colony and offer flat building pads, incredible old-growth forest, and a remarkable water feature with five lakes and a waterfall-dotted stream. Just 5 Meadow Lakes Homesites remain:
267 White Pine Canyon Road
This homesite is tucked among old-growth aspens on a partially-wooded corner lot. It’s an easy build lot with big sky views and ski-in, ski-out access directly outside your door. Such close ski proximity means hiking and biking trails are just as close when the snow melts. Homesite 267 is perhaps the best value to be found in The Colony.
