WELCOME TO SUMMERTIME AT THE COLONY

June 9, 2020 by bronson@thecolonywpc.com

The snow has melted, the forests are turning green and the meadows are covered in wildflowers – summer has never felt better! We hope everyone is ready to take on this new season after a roller coaster spring, with deeper appreciation for the place we call home.

Our team is summer ready and pushing forward as our Sales Office is now reopened 7 days a week following strict protocol regarding health and safety. Tours remain mostly by appointment and if interested we ask that you reach out to Bronson Calder at 435-901-9073. He and the rest of The Colony Sales Team are here for you 365!

For Your Summer Bucket List:

Our Sales Team knows how to have fun… Here’s some of their favorite activities and suggestions for how to play it big this summer in Park City. Get your bike, hike and water gear ready…

My perfect summer day is a morning paddle board at Jordanelle and then an afternoon round of golf at Mountain Dell.”

Cindy

Jordanelle Reservoir is is the closest lake to Park City and has every kind of water recreation. For smooth sailing, Cindy suggests going early to paddle board before the boats arrive.
And as for golf, she says evening is best for beautiful sunsets and cool air at Mountain Dell which offers 36 holes of breathtaking views and frequent glimpses of wildlife.

Every Saturday I wake up in need of a mountain bike ride. Our family’s go-to is Mid Mountain trail, you traverse all though PCMR. It’s epic.”

Kurt

Mid Mountain winds right through The Colony but Kurt suggests driving to the top of Deer Valley and then ending at your home to get the best of it!
He’s a super supporter of Mountain Trails Foundation for keeping all of our trails in top shape and Colesport for keeping his bike in gear.

I hike almost every day and just found Quarry Mountain hike, you start by the White Barn and end up with views of our whole mountain rage (Colony included!). It’s beautiful!”

Blake

Park City boasts more than 400 miles of hiking trails so to help navigate, Blake suggests Iron Mountain for a good incline that looks down at all of PC, Rob’s Trail for good shade on a hot day among tall pine forests and Quarry Mountain for quick 360 degree mountain views,
For more details on hiking at PCMR you can find their detailed map here: Hiking PCMR.

Come catch a fish with us in Phase Five!

Add to the bucket list above and set up a private afternoon of fishing in the mountains with us.

A Letter To Homeowners From Our Developer

May 12, 2020 by The Colony

From Thu, Mar 26, 2020

I would like to send out my sincere best wishes to all of you.

I hope you and your loved ones are well. Many of our owners and friends live in some of the most heavily impacted zones for COVID-19. For any of you that are dealing with this terrible virus, please know that we have you in our thoughts and prayers. Our country is dealing with very challenging times. I send a huge message of gratitude to those on the front lines battling this awful sickness from all of us at The Colony.

Times like these allow us to reflect and appreciate one another, recognize what is really important in life and treasure our precious family and friends. A very wise and special Colony friend, Fraser Bulloch, has a great group of ski buddies that are on the mountain every Friday, called Fraser’s Flyers.

This group has three themes they rally around:

Every day is a gift

Enrich relationships with kindness

Give meaningful service

With today’s challenges, I turn to these three themes and look for ways to deliver on their objectives. I applaud all of you who are giving your time, resources and helping hands to those whom are struggling mightily and are sincerely scared right now. I am convinced that we will get through this if we pull together, show kindness and help each other……… We look forward to better days ahead!

I am very grateful for this wonderful place, called The Colony. I encourage you to get outdoors, breathe the fresh air and partake in many of the outdoor activities that we all can enjoy in a safe manner. The snow is falling as I write this note and in normal times we would all be out there shredding some of “Utah’s finest POW.” Unfortunately, this virus has caused the resorts to shutdown prematurely. IMA is trying to mitigate this reality in a small way. We encourage and invite all of our owners to enjoy our beautiful backyard. We will continue to groom the Upper Meadow in the Phase 5 area of The Colony so that you can snowshoe, hike, walk your dogs and skate ski. The Colony is one of those special places that allows you to reflect and be thankful while safely enjoying the outdoors..

I am committed to maintaining the values we all have built here at The Colony. We will keep you updated on our activity and progress with the many projects we still have going on at The Colony. Our team stands ready to assist you with information and support. We are here for the long haul and want all of you to safely enjoy this place we call home for many more years to come.

In the meantime, let’s stay healthy, be kind to one another and stay vigilant.

Best wishes,

Walt Brett

Park City Event Guide: Park City Mountain Opening Day 2019

November 21, 2019 by Molly Miller, Colony PR

There may only be a few runs opening tomorrow (November 22, 2019), but the start of the ski season in a ski town in our ski-in|ski-out community, obviously, our thing.

The party kicks off at 8 a.m., with celebrations in the Park City Mountain Village plaza. DJ Velvet will be spinning, there will be First Chair t-shirts and a banner-breaking at the top of Payday Express, games, EpixMix Photo opportunities, and complimentary donuts and hot cocoa!

Payday, First Time, and 3 Kings chairs will start turning at 9 a.m. to service Homerun, First Time, and Turtle Trail, and Pick-n-Shovel Terrain Park.

On Saturday, Canyons Village will open Red Pine Gondola, Saddleback Express, High Meadow Express, Cabriolet, and Frostwood Gondola.

The Colony at White Pine Canyon is the largest gated ski-in / ski-out community in the United States. Our land spans 4600 acres, and approximately 90% of it will always be preserved as open space.

In winter, enjoy exclusive ski and snowboard access to one of North America’s largest mountain resorts, Park City Mountain. In spring, the snow melts to reveal an amazing network of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, connecting to more than 400 miles of single-track trails throughout the surrounding area.

The Colony is just 35 minutes from Salt Lake International Airport and 5 minutes to Park City’s historic Main Street, home to the Sundance Film Festival and world-class dining and shopping.

Park City Event Guide: Thanksgiving 2019

November 19, 2019 by Shelby Hintze, Colony PR

We’re skipping ahead a week so you have a little more time to plan for the big Thanksgiving weekend! Whether you’re looking for a holiday buffet, a swanky sit-down feast, or a cozy at home dinner (without the cooking), there are plenty of options out there. Let’s take a look at all the ways to celebrate and give thanks in Park City.

FIRST: FOOD

First—the food on Thursday. If you want a buffet, we suggest the Thanksgiving Harvest Buffet at Grand Summit Hotel.

There’s something for everyone. Go HERE for pricing info and HERE to see the full (DELICIOUS) menu.

For a sit-down experience, we’re really digging the three-course prix-fixe menu at Powder at the Waldorf Astoria.  There’s an option for those of you who are turkey-averse, don’t worry. See pricing info HERE and the menu HERE.

And if you’d rather stay in your pajamas and nosh all day in the comfort of your own home, get a to-go meal from Riverhorse Provisions. You will have to leave the house to get it but it’ll be worth it when all you have to do is heat and serve a delicious meal. You’re going to want to preorder, which you can do HERE.

In my family, we do Pie Day the day before or after, because we just don’t have room for dessert the day of! If you’ve been tasked with bringing a pie, check out Hearth and Hill for all of your baked goods, including cake if you’re one of those people who isn’t into pies… Place your order ahead of time and pick it up between November 26th-November 28th. Check it out HERE.

There are so many amazing places to eat throughout Park City, we couldn’t possibly highlight all of them. The Park City Restaurant Association has a wrap up if you want to see what else is out there. You can see that HERE.

GET MOVING

The food is the most important, but what else is going on Thanksgiving weekend? Here’s a breakdown.

Skiing and snowboarding at Park City Mountain Resortwill be open for a pre- or post-Thanksgiving ski.

Or go on a pre-Turkey jog at the Lululemon Turkey Trot 5k at Matt Knopp Park. Register HERE.

And on Thursday, try a Turkey Fitness Class at Basin Rec Classes are $10 or bring a canned good and pay $5.

  • Turkey Yoga from 8am-9am – The Fieldhouse Studio C
  • Turkey Spin from 8am-9am – The Fieldhouse Studio B
  • Turkey Burn from 9am-10am – The Fieldhouse turf field
  • Turkey Dance from 9am-10am – The Fieldhouse Studio A

On Saturday, get out at the Swaner Nature Walk – if there’s snow, get ready to snowshoe! And to get everyone outside, try a scavenger hunt through One Team. All you need is a smartphone and they’ll send you the info.

GO SHOPPING

We all know about amazing Black Friday deals, but what about Small Business Saturday? Main Street Businesses will host promotions and specials on this awesome Saturday! HERE is a list of all the small businesses along Park City’s Historic Main Street.

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Park City Film is hosting a Thanksgiving Break film series, Home Alone on Wednesday and Meet Me in St. Louis on Friday. Get more info on the free screenings HERE.

And on Friday-Sunday, see MY favorite film of the year, Downton Abbey. Get tickets HERE. If you want to see some live music, check out The Lovin’ Spoonful at the Egyptian Theater. Get tickets HERE.

If art Is more your speed, check out the best galleries Park City’s Main Street has to offer at the Last Friday Gallery Stroll. And if you want to make some art, get those creative juices flowing at the Wrap It Up! Gift Wrap Making workshop at the Kimball Art Center.
