Park City Event Guide: August 16 – 22

August 14, 2019 by Shelby Hintze, Colony PR

The Tour of Utah is one of the most prestigious cycling events in North America – and it runs right through our community each and every summer!

The Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah is an epic seven-day, professional cycling race along some of the most scenic highways and byways of Utah.

Saturday’s Stage 5 Event starts at 2:30 p.m. and finishes at 5:45 p.m. at Canyons Village at Park City Mountain, while Sunday’s Stage 6 Event starts at 12:30 p.m. and finishes at 3:45 p.m. on 250 Main St.

Activities, like an expo and kids’ races, round out the celebration before, after, and during the event. If you haven’t experienced the thrill of watching – and feeling! – the cyclists zoom past in one giant mass, do not miss out; it is absolutely worth standing along the sidelines and cheering!

Park City Event Guide: Kimball Arts Festival | August 2 – 4

August 1, 2019 by Shelby Hintze, Colony PR

For 50 years, the Kimball Art Center (KAC) has shut down Historic Main Street and displayed the wares of artists from all over the globe as the community comes together to celebrate the Kimball Arts Festival.

The festival takes place this weekend: August 2-4, and functions as the KAC’s main fundraiser for the year. The non-profit KAC works to provide access to art and art education to those in the Park City area. That includes offering scholarships to students to their many, many art classes, providing in-class and after-school programs at Park City and Summit County schools and provide free access to incredible exhibits to the community. Money raised from the Festival allows the KAC to continue its mission throughout the year.

Each year, it seems, the festival grows, and this year, the works of more than 220 artists will be highlighted. They come in all mediums — from drawing, to jewelry, to wood. Invited artists come from 33 states and three countries. Not only that – there are opportunities for you to jump in and experiment with your own creativity.

Here’s what to look forward to at one of Park City’s largest, most fun summer events.

Park City Event Guide: July 19 – July 25

July 18, 2019 by Shelby Hintze, Colony PR

Coming up this week, our state celebrates a uniquely Utah holiday. Pioneer Day celebrates the day when Mormon pioneers entered the Salt Lake valley in 1847 and declared “This is the place!”

And whether you descend from those pioneers or not, and celebrate the holiday as Pioneer Day or Pie & Beer Day, we can all agree that we’re lucky to live here and that this really is the [best] place! With that in mind, here’s a look at what’s happening this weekend. (Featured photo courtesy Bret O Photography, LLC)

What’s Your Vision for Park City’s Future?
From Park City Municipal:
We’d like to hear from you, Park City! Take the Park City Vision 2020 community survey and apply to participate in July’s Think Tank Workshops

Park City has launched Park City Vision 2020 – a community visioning project asking residents and business owners to share their perspectives on:

  • What makes Park City the place that people wish to call home?
  • What makes Park City special and what should Park City become?
  • What are the elements of the community that, if lost, would fundamentally change the character of Park City?

Park City Vision 2020 will be a 6-month community visioning project to define a Park City Community Vision and Action Plan, as a follow up to the 2009 Park City Community Visioning project.

There will be several opportunities to get involved throughout the visioning process now through October.

The Colony is just 35 minutes from Salt Lake International Airport and 5 minutes to Park City’s historic Main Street, home to the Sundance Film Festival and world-class dining and shopping.
