Halloween is nearly here, and, in true Park City style, there are options galore for the big day. Here’s a peek at a number of family-friendly activities.
Tuesday, October 30
Arachnids: After Dark!
6 – 8:30 PM @ Swaner EcoCenter
Prep for Halloween with a very spooky night of family-friendly fun! It’s a whole new way to experience the largest arachnid exhibit in the U.S. – in the dark.
In addition to seeing the exhibit, you’ll get to participate in creepy crawly arachnid trick-or-treat activities and take a walk on the Preserve at night. Come in costume and bring a flashlight and a trick-or-treat bag; candy will be distributed at each activity station.
Wednesday, October 31
Make Your Own Trick-or-Treat Bags
10 AM – 5 PM @ Kimball Art Center
Transylvania Tea Party Blood Drive
10 AM – 3 PM @ Snow Park Lodge
In our opinion, the only acceptable way to see *any* blood on Halloween is with a blood drive. Deer Valley’s Annual Halloween Blood Drive with ARUP Blood Services is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Snow Park Lodge. To sign up to donate, you’re asked to contact the Deer Valley HR front desk at (435) 645-6654.
If you cannot donate blood, you can still help with a donation of non-perishable food items (you can bring these to the HR Dept. at Deer Valley).
Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse
4 – 5 PM @ L.L. Bean Park City
The brand-new L.L.Bean store has just opened its doors on Heber and Main – and they are getting into Halloween by talking disaster preparedness – zombie-style. Seriously though, the Halloween-themed Zombie Apocalypse Survival Clinic aims to arm you for the unthinkable. It will introduce you to skills (and gear) that will help you through many different types of disaster. You can register for that, and see a list of upcoming events at the new store, HERE.
Halloween on Main Street
2018 Schedule of Events
Locals, visitors, monsters, witches, puppies, kiddos – you’ll see all of this and more at the 2018 Halloween on Main Street celebration in Park City. Be sure to wear a costume and to pack your patience – Main Street gets a bit rowdy on this holiday!
Trick-or-Treating
3 – 5 PM @ Historic Main Street
The littlest ghosts, goblins, and monsters are invited to Historic Main Street to go door-to-door for some fun, safe trick-or-treating, compliments of participating merchants.
Howl-O-Ween Parade
5:00 PM @ Historic Main Street
Forget the candy – this is the “Main” event – leashed, costumed dogs will march to Heber Ave from the bottom of Main Street and it is howlarious. Owners should meet below the Lower Main Street Pedestrian bridge at 4:45; the parade begins at 5 p.m.
Parking & Transportation
Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 2 p.m. and Halloween revelers are strongly encouraged to use public transportation, ride bikes, or park at satellite lots. A few notes from the Historic Park City Alliance:
- Due to federal regulations, pets are not allowed on public transportation.
- Satellite parking is available at Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain, and the Park City School District parking lots. Parking in satellite lots is complimentary.
- Parking will be $10 in the China Bridge parking structure.

If you don’t feel like trekking over to Main Street, bring the kids to Quarry Village in Pinebrook, where local businesses will be handing out treats! Participating businesses include:

Discovery Gateway
If you have the day off and feel like zipping down the canyon, head to Discovery Gateway for a free, fun-filled, family-friendly festival!
KUED PBS Kids will be there for a Boo Fest from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. – and the entire morning is Arthur-themed! Watch The Arthur Haunted Treehouse special, receive free books, Arthur swag, and plenty of trick-or-treating goodies. Boo Fest continues in the museum with more fun Halloween activities for regular admission price from 2 until 5 p.m.
Boo at the Zoo!
9 AM – 3 PM @ Hogle Zoo
Bring your costumed kiddos (12 and younger) to trick-or-treat throughout the zoo. Trick-or-treat bags are provided, and there will be lots of candy and lots to see and do for Boo at the Zoo!
Trick-or-Treating is free with regular admission (or included with your membership). Because this is one of the biggest events of the year at the zoo, parking is limited; you’re encouraged to carpool and reminded not to park in the “No Parking” areas.
